Awka Community Receives Anambra CP, Orutugu, Assures Him Of Support

Awka, the capital city of Anambra, has warmly welcomed Mr Ikioye Orutugu following his redeployment as the 35th Commissioner of Police in the state.

Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that while receiving CP Orutugu at his palace, the Traditional Ruler of Awka, Obi Gibson Nwosu, expressed gratitude to God for the return of the Police Commissioner to Anambra for a second tenure, noting that since the CP resumed duty, there has been a noticeable reduction in insecurity across the state, and assured him of the unwavering support of the Awka community.

In their separate remarks, the Prime Minister of Awka, Chief Benjamin Okoye, the Palace Adviser on Security and Intelligence, Chief Ken Chukwurah, the Palace Administrative Secretary, Chief Alex Nwachukwu, and the Chairman of Awka Stakeholders Forum, Chief Ken Ekwenugo, reaffirmed the commitment of the palace, traditional leadership and the good people of Awka to support CP Orutugu in enhancing the state’s security architecture.

Responding, CP Orutugu appreciated the Awka traditional institution for its ongoing partnership with the Police in maintaining security in Awka and Anambra at large, highlighting the recent “Egwu Imo Awka festival”, which he described as crime-free, as a testament to their successful collaboration, encouraging community stakeholders to intensify efforts in enlightening the youths to shun crime and criminality for a safer Anambra.
