Following the footsteps of the current Anambra state government in curbing youth unemployment with the “One Youth, Two Skills” initiative, the Anaocha Council Mayor has empowered five thousand youths with skills start-up equipment, including materials and machines for hair and shoe making, baking, tailoring and solar installation amongst others.
In his opening remark during the event, the Council Mayor, Honorable Rome Ibekwe explained that the empowerment scheme was his efforts to reduce youth unemployment within the council area, appreciating the state government for leading the way.

The state Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Aghamba, in his speech commended Honourable Ibekwe for joining efforts with the state government in empowering the youths and explained that the state government is deliberate with its youth populace which is geared towards making the State a skill hub in Africa.


Also speaking, Mrs Aisha Maduagwu, who is a sickle cell disorder advocate, appreciated the state government and council chairman for giving the group a sense of belonging, asking for more support to the group.
