International Women’s Day: Mrs Ezeofor Asks Govt To Protect Future Of Girl Child

As the international community observes Women’s Day today, the President of Aguata Diocesan Women’s Ministry, Mrs Chinyere Ezeofor, has called on government at different levels to map out far-reaching measures that will create a bright future for the girl child.

 

Speaking in an interview with the ABS at the Cathedral Church of Saint John Ekwulobia on the significance of the International Women’s Day, Mrs Ezeofor, who described women as special gift, canvased for the proper accommodation of women in the scheme of things in the nation’s polity, and called for the appointment of more women into positions of trust, since according to her, women are better managers of resources.

Mrs  Ezeofor, who is the wife of the Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, regretted the high rate of gender-based violence and divorce in the society, which she blamed on lack of knowledge of God, and called for setting up of a special commission that will see for the protection of the fundamental rights of women and the girl child.

 

She used the opportunity to commend the Anambra State Governor’s wife, Nonye Soludo, for all her efforts aimed at transforming the women and children across the state through her Non governmental organization, Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo, and called for it’s sustainability.
