2025 NITP Leadership Training: Town Planners Asks FG To implement Nigeria Urban And Regional Planning Law of 1992 

The National President, Nigeria Institute of Town Planners, Dr. Ogbonna Chime has urged the Federal Government to implement Nigeria Urban and Regional Planning Law of 1992 to  address environmental challenges confronting the country.

Dr Chime who made the appeal during the 2025 leadership training of Nigeria Institute of Town Planners themed “Leaders’ Roles in Urban Planning Profession and its administration” held in Awka, disclosed that the implementation of the law by government at all levels will enable environmental professionals to handle all matters concerning the environment and tackle cases of flooding and building collapse in the country.

He explained that the training was designed to inculcate the NITP values into their members, bring them up to date so that they will be abreast with the happenings regarding the profession worldwide. 

In his remarks, the Chairman of Nigeria Institute of Town Planners, Anambra State chapter, Dr.Ben Nwofor stated that the aim of the programme was to retrain their members in contemporary issues  in town planning, adding that it would offer stakeholders, government officials and members of the public the opportunity to understand the benefits of town planning  to the country.
