Sixteen schools in Anambra State have received digital learning aids and other materials to support children with special needs, as part of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s drive to make education accessible to all.
The items, which include talking computers, braille reading materials, therapeutic mirrors, wheelchairs, crutches, portable speakers, and massage equipment for pupils with cerebral disabilities, were distributed during the inauguration of counselling practice and integrity clubs at the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board headquarters in Awka.
Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, while flagging off the distribution, said the Soludo administration is intentional about inclusive education and ensuring that no child is left behind, adding that the initiative will boost learning for special needs pupils in both public and private schools.
The Chairman of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Vera Nwadinobi who listed the benefiting schools to include Peace Therapeutic School Obosi, Special Primary and Secondary school for the deaf, Obosi and others noted that the distribution reflected Governor Soludo’s performance dashboard in basic education.
