Farming Season: Umunobe Village Ogbunka Celebrates 2025 Oganiru Festival

Ahead of farming season in the area, the Umunobe village in Ogbunka community, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State has celebrated Oganiru Festival 2025, beginning with general hunting expedition by community hunters, followed by inter-denominational church service to bless the farm tools, crops and seed for the year’s cultivation, among other cultural events.

President General of Ogbunka Development Union, Chief Jude Chukwubueze, who described the event as a celebration of unity and progress, called for continued efforts to keep the community united.

 

Explaining its significance, the Chairman of Oganiru Festival 2025 Planning Committee, Chief Michael Ezenwa, said the event offers opportunity to thank God and pray for His blessings in all they do, urging the youths to embrace hard work and avoid short cuts in life.

On their parts, the Woman Leader, Umunobe People’s Assembly, Mrs Agnes Emeribe, and the Youth Leader, Comrade Chukwuebuka Ukaegbu, said the annual festival inherited from their forefathers readies them for the year’s farming, and called on able-bodied men and women in the community to help in the fight against hunger and contribute to food security; with other side benefits.
